On Sunday Last August 29th, our very own Sarah Quinn took gold in the 100m hurdles at the national senior championships. The race complemented her win earlier in the year at the national indoor championships where Sarah also claimed gold, thus becoming the fastest Irish female athlete over short distance hurdles for 2020. The NUI Galway Elite Sports Scholar clocked an impressive time of 13.67 in a star-studded race of already well-established Irish Athletes. The time and result has placed Sarah in a promising position with sights clearly set on the Olympics. Success for Sarah is not uncommon, she also became the 4th fast Irish female athlete over 100m last year during the u23 European Championships. The upward trajectory of Sarah’s achievements have been incredible thanks to her coach Brendan and the work of the sports scholarship programme. There is certainly a lot more to come from the NUI Galway Sports Scholar in sprint hurdles and we look forward to her continued success over the coming months.
