We are the University of Galway lacrosse, with currently a mixed team playing the women's style. We train once a week and provide gear for all members of the club. Participation in training is vital as picking up lacrosse skills requires practice, especially for most as it can be a new sport. We enter the Irish Lacrosse Leagues every year and play all over Ireland. In 2016, the women's team won the ILL and had the opportunity to represent Ireland abroad in a national tournament. These experiences have enriched the lacrosse team at University of Galway and motivated us in #growingthegame. We love the craic at our club and encourage team activities and social events. Creating a good experience with the club ensures a successful and memorable team we hope to keep at University of Galway Lacrosse. We also compete in international events apart of Ireland Lacrosse and Team Eire, with some of our members being selected to play on national teams at World Championships!

Give the medicine game a try and come out for Lacrosse!

History

Founded in 2009, the club is continuously growing. A sport invented by the Native Americans, it has grown extremely popular in the United States and the number of countries participating increases each year. The men's version of the sport is known for its speed, skill, and physicality, while the women's game is extremely exciting and skilful.  There are currently 3 disciplines of lacrosse, field, sixes, and box lacrosse.  We currently play sixes and field, although members do play box lacrosse apart of team ireland.

Achievements

The men's team have continuously grown and improved, with players going on to represent Ireland at World Championships on the Men's U19 National Team, Men's Senior National team and Indoor National Team.
