We are the University of Galway Lacrosse Club, with teams for both men & women. We train twice a week and provide gear for all members of the club. Participation in training is vital as picking up lacrosse skills requires practice, especially for most as it can be a new sport. We enter the Irish Lacrosse Leagues every year and play all over Ireland. In 2016, the women's team won the ILL and had the opportunity to represent Ireland abroad in a national tournament. These experiences have enriched the lacrosse team at University of Galway and motivated us in #growingthegame. We love the craic at our club and encourage team activities and social events. Creating a good experience with the club ensures a successful and memorable team we hope to keep at University of Galway Lacrosse.
In 2021, two of our teammates, Julia Egan and Sarah Hontz, were selected for the Elite developmental team on the Ireland Women's Lacrosse team after attending Ireland Lacrosse trials. They will participate in tournaments for Ireland Lacrosse, including the World's festival held in Towson, Maryland summer 2022.
Each college year we select members from the team to become a part of the committee. The positions within the committee include Women's Captain, Men's Captain, Treasury, Secretary, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Health and Safety Office, 1st Year Representative and Ordinary Committee Members (OCM).
